Support with everyday life skills
Get support to improve or get the skills needed to live as independently as possible at your home or in our group home, and participate more in your community.
BridgesCare can provide you with support towards improving your skills or acquiring a new skill to live independently in your house or in one of our group homes as well as engaging and participating actively in your local community. You are eligible to access below supports once you become an NDIS participant with an approved NDIS plan for the support category tagged “Improved daily living”
Individual assessment and therapy
We have a team of health professionals with years of experience in the industry, who are ever ready and more than happy to assess your situation and advise the best equipment suitable for your specific need. Different equipment or assistive technology could be recommended to enable the person with a disability to live independently and to access the community with ease.
Community nursing care for high needs
Our team of registered nurses specialize in different areas of disability, and would not hesitate to come to your home to provide you or your carer with the vital training structured for you to have the skills and support required to enable you to live independently at home. We can also provide you with the support needed in managing continence based on the assessment and recommendations of our proficient registered nurses.
Development of daily living and life skills
Daily living and life skills supports are structured to empower you to be prepared for your daily activities, manage your life, and move from one to another independently like every other person in your community. By the time we support you to get daily and life skills, you will learn how to handle personal activities such as :
- Showering, dressing, and other personal care tasks
- Household tasks including cleaning and cooking
- Life skills including budgeting and meal planning
- Travel and transport, including using public transport
We have specialists who are trained to provide therapeutic supports with the quest to strengthen your independent living with the needed skills which might include the following skills:
- Language and communication
- Mobility and movement
- Interacting with other people
- Community living
- Care support and training
Early intervention supports for early childhood
We work jointly with your family to develop a plan for different therapies to assist your child at home, school, daycare, and in the community.
Specialized driver training
We can support you to improve your driving skills with specialized driver training which includes training in driving, using adapted equipment, or vehicle modification.
